Sons of...

Justin, a young gay man is on a break from film school - struggling to come to terms with his father’s violent opposition to his sexual orientation. This reflective, philosophical film was, in its day, at the leading edge of queer cinema, due to its presentation of an open and unapologetically gay male protagonist, as well as what must have been at the time, a very short but ‘shockingly’ graphic sex scene. This short film was written, directed and edited by celebrated Australian film and television industry ‘showrunner’, Tony Ayres, during his final year at the VCA – then Swinburne Film School (1985).
