ABC Orders New Marvel Series 'Inhumans'
ABC is calling up more superheroes.
The network has ordered a live-action version of Marvel's "Inhumans." The eight-episode series, slated for fall 2017, will follow Black Bolt and the Inhuman royal family. The first two episodes will play in IMAX theaters for two weeks in early September before premiering on ABC.
"Inhumans" will be ABC's third Marvel series after "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and the canceled "Agent Carter." Inhumans were introduced in season 2 of the former show when Skye (Chloe Bennet) evolved into an inhuman named Quake. The new series is not considered a spinoff, though, and won't have direct ties to "Agents of SHIELD."
Inhumans are a race of superhumans with unique powers and abilities. Marvel initially planned to make a movie around the characters, but apparently decided it would suit television better. The comics company has quite a few TV projects in the works. They already have a full slate on Netflix, including "Luke Cage" and "The Defenders," and are working with Hulu on "The Runaways."
