10 Unforgettable ABC 'TGIF' TV Shows, Ranked From Worst to Best
Back in the day, ABC's TGIF was just the best. The week was over, and all of our favorite shows were on. What a time to be alive. These are the best TGIF shows, ranked from worst to best.
‘Dinosaurs’ (1991 - 1994)
While “I'm the baby, gotta love me!" and "Not the mama” are still great things to quote, “Dinosaurs” just doesn’t have that lasting power of other sitcoms. Also, let’s not forgot that incredibly depressing episode about extinction. Honestly, we’re still scarred.
‘Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper’ (1992 - 1997)
Mr. Cooper was a real cool guy and we’d be grateful if he were our coach, but his show wasn’t on par with TGIF’s best. Also, who wants to think about gym class on a Friday night?
8. ‘Two of a Kind’ (1998-1999)
This very short-lived Mary-Kate and Ashley show debuted towards the end of TGIF’s reign and it was wild. Just look at those hairstyles! Can you believe? They were constantly getting into hijinks that seem exhausting looking back. But, we’d be lying if we said Carrie wasn’t the coolest babysitter ever.
7. ‘Perfect Strangers’ (1986-1993)
Balki and Larry are the Laverne and Shirley of their generation and we won’t hear otherwise. Plus, if it weren’t for “Perfect Strangers,” we wouldn’t have its spin-off, “Family Matters.”
6. ‘Step By Step’ (1991-1998)
If the award was for catchiest theme song, “Step By Step” would have it in the bag. But, it isn’t and this "Brady Bunch"-inspired series isn’t really that memorable. It was a fine show to watch when you had time to kill or lost the remote, but we all know we’d rather be watching something else.
5. ‘Sister, Sister’ (1994-1999)
Twins were really in back in the 90s! “Sister, Sister” followed the shenanigans of Tia and Tamera, who were separated at birth, after they’re reunited at a shopping mall with their adoptive parents. Even if the show wasn’t a classic, it would still be a reigning fave thanks to Jackee's portrayal of Lisa.
4. ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’ (1996 - 2003)
Don’t get us wrong, Netflix's new “Sabrina” is great. But, it just doesn’t have the zany zest that the Melissa Joan Hart '90s sitcom did. We like living in a world where Aunt Zelda is a nice lady! Plus, Salem is the sassy feline we all need in our lives. He has zingers for days. However, the show does fall apart once Sabrina heads off to college.
3. ‘Full House’ (1987 - 1995)
Honestly, it would be higher, but “Fuller House” has kind of tainted the show we knew and loved. There’s just something less charming about it now.
2. ‘Family Matters’ (1989 - 1998)
It’s been 20 years since this show went off the air, and we still quote “Did I do that?” like it’s a new phrase. Talk about impact! While Urkel could be annoying, Carl Winslow was one of the best TV dads of his time. Also, never forget Stefan.
1. ‘Boy Meets World’ (1993 - 2000)
This. Show. Holds. Up! Cory and Shawn are still one of the ultimate friendships of television history, Cory and Topanga are still our OTP, and Mr. Feeny is the best teacher that has ever existed. Now is as good a time as any to start a rewatch.
