Colin Farrell to Star in Sci-Fi Drama 'After Yang'
The robot drama "After Yang" is moving forward with A24 on board. The entertainment company has greenlighted the project starring Colin Farrell, Deadline reports.
The film is based on Alexander Weinstein's short story, "Saying Goodbye to Yang," which was published in his 2016 Collection "Children of the New World." It centers on a family that got a robot babysitter for their young daughter when they adopted her from China. The robot is programmed to teach her about her culture, but when it later begins to malfunction, the family must confront the reality that their time with Yang may be ending. Filmmaker Kogonada is adapting the story and will also direct.
"After Yang" makes an interesting addition to Farrell's lineup of upcoming films. He stars in Disney's "Dumbo" remake, the thriller "Eve," and the crime flick "Bush." The actor's most recently released films include "Widows," "Roman J. Israel, Esq.," and "The Beguiled."
Producer Theresa Park acquired the rights to "Saying Goodbye to Yang" through her banner, PerCapita Productions, alongside Cinereach.
