Amazon Studios has a TV adaptation of an iconic film on deck.

More than 25 years after "A League of Their Own" first opened in theaters, the streaming service is working on bringing viewers a TV series inspired by the sports drama. The project is in development with Abi Jacobson ("Broad City") and Will Graham ("Mozart in the Jungle") co-writing as well as executive producing alongside Hailey Wierengo, THR reports. Amazon is holding off on an official decision until it has seen some scripts, according to the publication.

The series will reportedly take elements of the film and present them in half-hour episodes, but the new "A League of Their Own" will be a "modern take," according to THR. The publication revealed the prospective show's official logline, and it states that we'll get "the warmth, humor and DNA of the classic film." Though the story will focus on the Rockford Peaches, just like the film did, it sounds like we won't get the same characters; Geena Davis and Lori Petty's characters, sisters Dottie and Kit, for example, are reportedly not included in the story.

The 1992 film centers on the sisters as they leave their small Oregon hometown to try out for the new All-American Girl Professional Baseball League. Both end up playing for the Rockford Peaches, where they bond with their unique teammates and alcoholic coach. In addition to Davis and Petty, the stellar cast includes Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, and Bill Pullman, among others.

Amazon and Sony opted not to comment on THR's report, so on behalf of fans of the film, we say: Amazon, you're killing us. You're killing us, Amazon. You're godd--n killing us!
