To be honest, nothing will prepare you for "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere. By all accounts, it's going to beat the holy hell out of our feelings. But at least AMC's new retrospective will help you remember the good times before it all goes to poop.

AMC announced it will air a two-hour special called "The Walking Dead: Journey So Far" on Sunday, October 16 at 9 p.m. ET. That's one week before the Season 7 premiere on Sunday, October 23 at 9 p.m.

Here's what the network teased in a press release:

"During the special, fans can get up close and personal with the cast as they tell the stories of their characters from the moment they were introduced to where they were when last season ended. Clips from the most pivotal moments in series history will be intercut between cast and executive producer interviews.

Season by season, from the moment Rick wakes up in the hospital (as told by Andrew Lincoln), all the way to the excruciating first swing of Negan's bat (told by Jeffery Dean Morgan and others in the lineup), the story of 'The Walking Dead' will be told by those who have lived it.

'The Walking Dead: Journey So Far' gives viewers who have never seen an episode of 'The Walking Dead' a chance to get all caught up on the plot, characters, locations, and unique terminology of the series as well as providing fans who've never missed a moment with fresh interviews with the series' producers and their favorite actors as part of an exciting refresher course that will further whet their appetite for the new season."

That new season is going to start with Rick Grimes as a broken man, and our group missing at least one member, with the group feeling helpless in Negan's world. Apart from Negan's lineup of death, we also have Morgan and Carol heading toward a new survivor community called The Kingdom; and Tara and Heath still out there on that super long supply run that's probably going seamlessly like all supply runs do.

This retrospective is a welcome addition to the usual pre-season marathons, but it does feel like an early In Memoriam, allowing the cast to celebrate the good old days before their brains are beaten out by a baseball bat named Lucille. Then again, the retrospective should also remind the rest of us of the other bad times. Like Andrea's entire storyline. And the hospital. And those slow patches on the farm when all anyone did was yell for Sophia and/or Carl. And Lori flipping the car on a nearly empty road. And...
