Amy Schumer: 'My Heart Is Broken' Over 'Trainwreck' Theater Shooting
Amy Schumer has spoken out about the shooting in a packed theater in Louisiana showing "Trainwreck" that left three people dead and nine others injured.
"My heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana," the writer-star of the film said on Twitter on Thursday night.
Police identified John Russel Houser, a 59-year-old "drifter" from Alabama, as the gunman who opened fire Thursday inside the screening at the Grand 16 Theater in Lafayette. Authorities were still trying to determine a motive.
Universal Pictures, which released "Trainwreck," also released a statement: "All of us at Universal Pictures send our heartfelt sympathies to the victims of this senseless tragedy and their families in Louisiana.”
Lauren Palliser, a witness of the shooting, told WDSU-TV, of the chaotic moments as gunshots rang out.
"Definitely sheer panic -- mass chaos," she said. "There was a couple of people who were, I guess, maybe unaware of what was going on."
