'Avengers 4' Title to Be Revealed After 'Captain Marvel' Teaser, Marvel Boss Says
If you're sitting by your phone, waiting to hear the official "Avengers 4" title -- grab a snack. It'll be a while.
Marvel has had a title ready for well over a year, but Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said it was too spoilery to reveal before "Avengers: Infinity War."
Now that "Infinity War" is nearly three months out ... we'll still have to wait several more months.
Feige is doing press for "Ant-Man and the Wasp," and he's being asked about what's ahead in Brie Larson's "Captain Marvel" (March 8, 2019) and "Avengers 4" (May 3, 2019).
Feige told ComicBook.com they're still working on the promos/trailers/marketing for "Captain Marvel."
"I think there's still a few months on it. You already know as much as you need to. We've got Skrulls, we've got the Kree, it takes place in the 90s, you have Sam Jackson with two eyes and Carol Danvers, a unique telling of Carol Danvers origin story. We are about two weeks out from completion of principal photography."
Collider asked Feige about the "Avengers 4" title, and he tied that to the "Captain Marvel" promotion:
"That'll be after the Captain Marvel teaser probably, announcing that title. It'll be towards the end of the year with however we launch that film."
So we're looking at a "Captain Marvel"/"Avengers 4" double-header toward the end of the year. Consider it a holiday gift for Marvel fans!
Whatever the title ends up being, it won't be "Infinity Gauntlet" -- despite that rumor. Feige later shot that rumor down cold.
Feige -- a font of information, always -- added that "'Ant-Man and The Wasp' also connects directly to 'Avengers 4.' These characters are going to be very important going forward."
He wants you to buy tickets to that movie, and you should. It's getting good reviews so far, and it's the bridge between "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Captain Marvel"/"Avengers 4."
"Ant-Man 2" opens Friday, July 6. "Captain Marvel" arrives March 8, 2019, two months before "Avengers 4" on May 3.
