'Avengers: Infinity War' Has Finished Filming, and It's 'Down' a Director
The Russo Brothers are the real superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and they must be so pooped.
"Avengers: Infinity War" seems like it's been filming for infinity and beyond, but principal photography technically started in January, and it just finished. The directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, posted an Instagram photo teasing the end, and Entertainment Weekly got confirmation from a Marvel Studios rep that, yes, production is now over.
Man down! Good thing they have a spare brother as backup.
Of course, "one down" has double meaning, since the original title of this movie was "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1," with "Part 2" to follow. The titles are now separate, with "Avengers 3" being "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Avengers 4" keeping its official title to itself until after "Infinity War" premieres, since the title will be too much of a spoiler. Now filming will start on "Avengers 4," since the Russos are doing the films back-to-back.
We should expect to hear a lot more on the MCU this weekend at Disney's D23 Expo, and especially next weekend at Marvel's panel at Comic-Con. Cross your fingers for some kind of new footage, starring any of these guys or the 60-some-odd other Marvel characters in "Infinity War":
"Avengers: Infinity War" is scheduled to open May 4, 2018. "Avengers 4" is scheduled for May 3, 2019.
