Award-Winning Composer Michael Giacchino Scoring 'Zootopia'
Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino and Walt Disney Animation Studios will be making sweet music together.
Giacchino will helm the score for the upcoming animated feature "Zootopia," the studio announced in a statement Monday. Along with an 80-piece orchestra and conductor Tim Simonec, he will begin recording the score this week.
“I am really proud to be a part of this film,” Giacchino said in a statement. “It’s one of those films with a huge heart and wonderfully realized characters set within a story that’s not only incredibly fun and entertaining but takes an honest look at our own world and the important issues we deal with living in such a diverse society. That’s what really attracted me to the film—the chance to write music that reflects these kind of challenges.”
Previously, Giacchino's score for Disney-Pixar's 2009 animated feature "Up" earned him an Oscar, Golden Globe and two Grammys, among other honors.
"Zootopia" is an animated film that takes place in a modern mammal metropolis, featuring voice talent from Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman and more, in theaters on March 4, 2016. Watch the trailer below.
