Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner File for Divorce
For a while, it looked like Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck might reconcile for good, but now it's really over. The duo filed for divorce yesterday, several news outlets report.
According to CBS News, the actors both filed divorce petitions in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. Both are seeking joint physical and legal custody of their three children.
So maybe those tabloid reports that the former "Alias" star is pregnant with twins aren't true.
The duo, who married in 2005, announced their separation in June of 2015. It's been a very amicable separation, prompting many to speculate they might reconcile for good.
When Affleck announced he'd completed a stint in rehab in March, he thanked his "co-parent" Garner. Just last month, People reported that there was "hope" the two could get back together. "Jen has called off the divorce," one source told the mag. "She really wants to work things out with Ben. They are giving things another try."
Last year, Affleck spoke warmly of Garner to CBS This Morning, saying "She's a great mother, she's a real talent. Life doesn't always turn out exactly the way you want. We're doing our very best and we're putting our kids first, and that's how we're focusing on our day-to-day lives. We don't know what the future's going to hold, but every step we take is one that prioritizes our children."
The couple's three children are Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5.
According to TMZ, there was no prenup so they'll be splitting everything 50/50. While no mention was made of spousal support in their filings, Affleck made a lot more money than Garner during their 10-year marriage.
The divorce could be final within six months.
