'Blinded by the Light' Trailer Mixes Growing up With Bruce Springsteen
It's time to head back to the '80s, because Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for "Blinded by the Light."
The upcoming drama from director Gurinder Chadha centers on Javed (Viveik Kalra), a British teen of Pakistani descent who wants to be a poet but knows his traditional father would never approve. After he discovers Bruce Springsteen's music, however, he starts to believe he can chase his dreams. It's a coming-of-age story based on journalist Sarfraz Manzoor's 2007 memoir, "Greetings from Bury Park."
The trailer highlights the film's uplifting story and has plenty of charming moments. On top of that, there is plenty of Springsteen music. The soundtrack has a number of The Boss's hits, as well as "I'll Stand by You Always," the song he originally wrote a Harry Potter movie. Watch below.
The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January to rave reviews. "Blinded by the Light" hits theaters Aug. 14.
