"Spider-Man: Far From Home" easily swung into first place for its second weekend in theaters, despite competition from gator thriller "Crawl" and R-rated comedy "Stuber."

The 23 MCU film collected another $45 million, boosting domestic grosses to $274 million. It had a relatively small 50% decline in ticket sales from its first weekend, which is better than its predecessor, 2017’s "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

It's now grossed  $847 million worldwide.

Of new films this weekend, creature feature "Crawl" outperformed expectations to land in third place with $12 million, nearly earning back its $13.5 million budget in one weekend. It scored an impressive 88% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, despite barely being screened for critics.

Directed by Alexandre Aja (whose films include "Horns" and "High Tension"), "Crawl" follows a father and daughter who must outwit a pack of hungry alligators after a massive hurricane hits their Florida town.

Meanwhile, "Stuber," Disney’s first R-rated release since inheriting Fox’s film assets, pulled in $8 million from 3,050 venues. It stars Kumail Nanjiani as an Uber driver who is drafted into his cop passenger's (Dave Bautista) pursuit of a brutal killer. Audiences gave it a "B" CinemaScore.

At the indie box office, Sundance favorite "The Farewell" brought in $351,330 from four venues in New York and Los Angeles for a massive $87,833 per location. That's the best theater average of the year, outdistancing "Avengers: Endgame"'s $76,601 per screen. That's even more impressive considering a New York City power outage night forced one of its theaters, AMC Lincoln Center, to close on Saturday night.

Lulu Wang directed the comedic drama, which stars Awkwafina as a woman who returns to China to say goodbye to her family's matriarch, who doesn’t know she’s dying of terminal cancer. "The Farewell" holds a rare 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and audiences.
