CBS Just Renewed 16 More Shows for 2017-2018, But Many Are Still Hanging
This is like a reality show, where we know 18 CBS series already made the cut for the 2017-2018 season -- two previously announced, and 16 more today -- but who will be next, and who will be canceled? Find out after the break!
CBS already renewed "NCIS" and "The Big Bang Theory" in a previous announcement. Today, five freshman series and 11 veterans were revealed to be returning for more:
• "Bull"
• "Kevin Can Wait"
• "MacGyver"
• "Man With a Plan"
• "Superior Donuts"
• "Blue Bloods"
• "Hawaii Five-o"
• "Life in Pieces"
• "Madam Secretary"
• "Mom"
• "NCIS: Los Angeles"
• "NCIS: New Orleans"
• "Scorpion"
• "Survivor"
• "48 Hours"
• "60 Minutes"
Who is left hanging? These guys:
• "Criminal Minds"
• "Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders
• "Elementary"
• "2 Broke Girls"
• "Code Black"
• "The Odd Couple"
• "The Great Indoors"
• "Training Day"
• "Ransom"
"Doubt" was canceled after just two episodes, and "Pure Genius" was also canceled. TheWrap suspects "Ransom" and "Training Day" are next. "Training Day" was already moved from Thursdays to Saturdays, with the new season of "Amazing Race" taking its old Thursday nights at 10 spot next week. TVLine added "Hunted" to the list of shows unlikely to return.
TVLine also noted that "Criminal Minds" was a late addition last year, as financial issues and contracts were being worked out, and those factors are likely to be delaying things for shows this year, too. As CBS added to their announcement, "additional returning series pick-ups for next season will be announced at a later date." So don't give up hope for your faves -- and consider contacting CBS directly to let them know what you want to keep watching.
