Chris Pine's 'SNL' Promo Is Weirder Than Usual, in a Good Way
"Saturday Night Live" this Saturday, May 6, in the second of four historic episodes that will be broadcast live on both coasts. The musical guest is LCD Soundsystem, and they definitely inspired the new promo, which stars Pine and SNL-er Kate McKinnon, set to "Dance Yrself Clean."
The result is more abstract music video than promo, including Pine blowing on a miniature McKinnon, Pine in a wig hugging McKinnon's fake baby bump, fun time with hair styling products, something with Skittles, and a lot of zany dancing. Basically, they just went to town backstage in the studio.
There was some worry that a writers's strike might affect SNL production, but that didn't happen. Instead, the "Wonder Woman" actor had time to head backstage and interview the writers in a pre-promo promo.
