Chris Pratt Signs Apology for 'Insensitive' Post, Asks Instagram to Add Closed Captioning
Chris Pratt is a human being, so he screws up sometimes. Unlike many humans, especially super famous ones, he takes his mistakes seriously and apologizes for them with no publicist prompting. Just adding that last part because the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" star added it himself in his lengthy new Instagram post, apologizing for a video that was insensitive to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and noting that he alone controls his own social media, and this apology was not prompted by anyone worried for the Marvel movie or Pratt's "brand."
To emphasize his apology, he used sign language in the video, and used the end of his note to urge Instagram to add closed captioning/subtitle options to make it more accessible.
This is why fans love Chris Pratt, even when he screws up. He's just a decent guy who wants to learn and grow.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the original video -- now removed -- was reportedly promoting "Guardians 2" and posted to Marvel's Facebook page. In the video, Pratt suggested viewers ignore subtitles, saying, "C'mon seriously dude. You'd rather read those than hear me?"
