Classic! Watch 90-Year-Old Widow Strip to Stardom on 'America's Got Talent'
You work those tassels, baby girl.
Dorothy Williams, a 90-year-old widow from Hawaii, put on quite a burlesque show last night on "America's Got Talent" Season 11. She shocked the four judges and audience, but also earned a standing ovation and the final available Golden Buzzer.
"When I get on that stage," Dorothy said before walking out, "I want to prove that you're never too old to follow your dreams." And if your dream is to strip for millions of viewers, go for it!
Watch Dorothy's burlesque act, especially the reaction shots from Simon Cowell:
This queen! After the audience gave Dorothy a standing ovation, judge Mel B simply told her "good for you." Heidi Klum said, "I absolutely love you. That was really, really special" and put her in a good mood. Simon Cowell said, "I find you fascinating, Dorothy. I do. And I do think there's an audience for you." He did say she needed to work on her tassels, but he also wanted a longer song to see where she'd end up. (!) Howie Mandel said he loved Dorothy and her message.
All of the judges had used their Golden Buzzers at that point, so host Nick Cannon ran over and hit it himself. On to the live shows she goes.
This is already a big year for seasoned "Talent" to surprise fans; you may recall a few weeks ago when 82-year-old retired aerospace engineer John Hetlinger rocked out hard. But is there an audience for Dorothy, if she continues to just do a burlesque stripping act like this, or will she not make it too far after this vote of "good for you" confidence? After all, there's a lot of strong competition this season already.
