'Da Vinci Code' Prequel Series 'Langdon' in the Works at NBC
A "Da Vinci Code" prequel series about a young Robert Langdon is in development at NBC.
The network has given a production commitment to "Langdon," based on Dan Brown's 2009 bestselling thriller "The Lost Symbol.
The show will follow the early adventures of the famed Harvard symbologist, who finds himself pulled into a series of deadly puzzles when his mentor is kidnapped. The CIA forces him onto a task force where he uncovers a chilling conspiracy.
Daniel Cerone ("The Blacklist," "Dexter") will serve as showrunner of the series.
Tom Hanks played Langdon in three feature films: 2006’s "The Da Vinci Code," 2009’s "Angels & Demons" and 2016’s "Inferno." They've earned more than $1.5 billion worldwide.
Ron Howard, who directed all three films, will be an executive producer on the TV series.
