Daniel Radcliffe has spoken before about whether or not he'd be open to playing Harry Potter again sometime in the future, and while the actor said he'd never say never, he also didn't think it would happen anytime soon. Now, Radcliffe is doubling down on those comments, stating that while he'd certainly consider a return to the Wizarding World, he'd also be fine with someone else tackling the role of The Boy Who Lived.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said he wouldn't rule out a return as Potter, which could be possible if Warner Bros. does eventually go ahead with a big screen adaptation of the hit sequel play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child." (Though no such plans are currently in the works.) Echoing his comments from earlier this summer, in which he likened a potential reprise of his role to that of Harrison Ford returning as Han Solo in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Radcliffe left some wiggle room, while also adding a caveat.

"I'm never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do," he told THR. "But I think I'll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it."

The actor added that he felt he was "too young" to play Harry as written in "Cursed Child," since the character is in his late 30s, and noted that "even in 10 years' time I would still feel strange about going back to it." Once again referencing the "Star Wars" series, Radcliffe also said that any new interpretation of Harry on film would need to strike a delicate balance with the legacy of the original series. He told THR:

"There's a part of me that's like, some things are better left untouched. If we went back to 'Potter,' there's a chance we'd make what 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was to the original 'Star Wars,' but there's also the chance that we'd make 'Phantom Menace.' So I don't want to go back to anything like that and maybe sour what people have already loved."

That's certainly an understandable stance, and we're inclined to agree with the actor, even if we think it will be hard for anyone else to fill Harry's shoes as well as Radcliffe did. The actor may have been hard on his performance, but he'll always be Harry to us.
