Plastic is forever.

A movie centered on Plastic Man, the classic DC Comics superhero, is in development at Warner Bros., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Up-and-coming screenwriter Amanda Idoko (ABC's "The Mayor") is penning the script for what's described as a comedic action-adventure movie.

Plastic Man was first created by Jack Cole for Quality Comics in 1941. When DC absorbed the brand in 1956, they took on that character and several others.

Plastic Man's true identity is Patrick “Eel” O’Brian, originally a crook. When a heist goes wrong, he is doused with chemical. When he wakes up, he learns he can stretch his body like rubber. He reforms and becomes a crime-fighting police officer and later, a member of the Justice League.

The character headlined a Saturday morning TV series that ran from 1979 to 1981, but has never made it to the big screen. In 2008, there were reports that the Wachowskis were developing a Plastic Man movie as a possible vehicle for Keanu Reeves (with whom they worked on "The Matrix").

Lana Wachowski even revealed a bit of a spoiler to MTV News: "The funny scene we thought of that was kind of the start of it all was like he goes to the bathroom after he becomes Plastic Man and his urine is no longer bio-degradable so he like wants to kill himself."
