Disney Gives 'Aladdin' & Others New Release Dates After 'Star Wars: Episode IX' Moves
It's a whole new world for Disney's release calendar. Now that "Star Wars: Episode IX" has its house in order with a new director and release date, several other titles are also getting reshuffled.
"Episode IX" is doing a straight swap with Guy Ritchie's live-action "Aladdin," which previously had the December 20, 2019 release date. Now "Aladdin" has "Episode IX's" old May 24, 2019 opening, moving it up half a year.
Here are the newly scheduled Disney releases:
- "Magic Camp" – TBD
- "Untitled Christopher Robin Project" – August 3, 2018
- "Aladdin" – May 24, 2019
- "Artemis Fowl" – August 9, 2019
- "Nicole" – November 8, 2019
- "Star Wars: Episode IX" - December 20, 2019
According to Collider, "Magic Camp" was previously slated to open April 6, 2018. The live-action family comedy stars Adam Devine, Jeffrey Tambor, and Gillian Jacobs, following a struggling magician who returns as a counselor to the title camp to reignite his career. It is reportedly finished production, but now has no release date. S
The "Untitled Christopher Robin Project" stars Ewan McGregor as the adult Christopher Robin, opposite Hayley Atwell. "Artemis Fowl" is Kenneth Branagh's live-action adaptation of the young adult fantasy novel series. "Nicole" stars Anna Kendrick as Santa Claus's daughter, Nicole Claus, who inherits the family business.
Interestingly enough, even with all of the reshuffling, the Han Solo "Star Wars" movie is staying put on May 25, 2018.
