Santa! Buddy the Elf is going to be so excited that Ed Asner is going to play the man in the red suit again.

The actor will play Saint Nick in the upcoming family film "The Santa Files," which is about a group of outcast kids who try to find Santa Claus, according to Deadline. Production will begin this month in Providence, RI.

Asner memorably played Santa (the real Santa, not one of those department store phonies) in the 2003 comedy "Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas."

He also played "Papa Noel" in a 2013 TV movie "A Christmas Carol," "O Christmas Tree," "Snowden's Christmas," "Olive the Other Reindeer," "The Story of Santa Claus," "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus," and "The Christmas Star." Whew!

The 87-year-old actor hasn't slowed down, appearing in recent episodes of "Bones," "The Good Wife," and "Criminal Minds."
