Emmys 2018: 'This Is Us' Fans Protest Mandy Moore's Nomination Snub
Once again, the Emmys showed plenty of love for the Pearson Family, nominating NBC tearjerker "This Is Us" for several high-profile statuettes, including Best Drama Series. But the omission of one nod in particular has some fans crying foul.
For the second year in a row, Mandy Moore -- who plays matriarch Rebecca Pearson -- was left out of the Emmys race, failing to secure a nomination in the Best Actress category. Her costars Sterling K. Brown (who plays Randall, and picked up the Best Actor in a drama trophy last year) and Milo Ventimiglia (who plays the dearly departed Jack), meanwhile, scored repeat noms.
As devoted fans of "Us" can tell you, Moore does plenty of emotional heavy lifting on the series, perhaps none more so than in the episode that reveals how Jack dies. The scene where Rebecca reacts to seeing her husband's lifeless body in the hospital was cited as but one example of the work that viewers say should have been recognized by the Television Academy.

The word "snub" is kind of loaded, since it suggests an intentional slight, and we doubt that Emmy voters went out of their way to make Moore feel unwanted. But then again, with a show that provokes such strong emotion in the first place, this reaction seems par for the course.
At least Moore was a good sport about it, and seems genuinely happy for those who did manage to score a nomination.
