First Look at 'Star Trek 3,' Plus Director Justin Lin Confirms Title
Live long and prosper ... in the great beyond!
"Star Trek 3" director Justin Lin shared the first photo from the set of the latest film in the franchise, plus confirmed the movie's title. The image is of an uniform patch, which reads "Starfleet: United Federation of Planets." And when Lin shared it on Twitter, he also hashtagged it with the title, "Star Trek Beyond":

That confirms what screenwriter and cast member Simon Pegg revealed a few weeks ago. The patch and title all add to the rumors about "Star Trek 3" — that the Starship Enterprise will finally move away from Earth and into deep space.
The first two films, 2009's "Star Trek" and 2013's "Star Trek Into Darkness," were predominantly set on or near Earth. Now, "Star Trek Beyond" looks to take Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and crew on the famous five-year mission referenced in the original television series.
"Star Trek Beyond" is set to open in theaters July 8, 2016.
