First 'Sherlock' Christmas Special Image Reveals the Past Is Present
My dear Watson, what a mustache you have!
BBC One released the first official photo from the upcoming "Sherlock" Christmas special, which shows stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman looking dapper in Victorian-era clothes.
Rumblings about the time period of the special began when the actors were spotted in these outfits while filming, and co-creator Steven Moffat confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the 90-minute episode would be a one-off set in the late 1800s.
"The special is its own thing," he said. "It's not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it — as we could hardly conceal — it's Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It's kind of in its own little bubble."

It's unclear if the special will have any tie back to the modern-day series — maybe Sherlock is time-traveling in his mind palace? Or this is some kind of "ghosts of Christmas past" thing? In any case, it's been a long, long wait for "Sherlock" fans (season 3 aired on PBS in late January 2014). Only five more months to go!
