'Game of Thrones' Comic-Con Trailer: Key Character Returns to Form a New Alliance
Alliances are constantly shifting on "Game of Thrones," and it looks like we might soon see a new one.
HBO released a new Season 7 trailer on Friday during San Diego Comic-Con, and it brings back a familiar face. In the preview, Melisandre (Carice van Houten), the Red Woman, resurfaces after being banished from the North by Jon Snow (Kit Harington). And she's ready to work with another Iron Throne contender: Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).
"I believe you have a role to play," she tells the Mother of Dragons, "as does another."
The Red Priestess was reluctant to leave Jon's side in Season 6 given that she believes he is the prince that was promised, so now that she is getting Daenerys involved in whatever plan she has, Melisandre may be key to uniting the long-lost relatives. However, that might have interesting consequences; as the preview shows, people in the North are wary of the once-reigning family. Additionally, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) still has Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) in her ear, potentially complicating her relationship with Jon. We can't wait to see how this plays out.
"Game of Thrones" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
