A 'Game of Thrones' Castle Is Selling for Less Than You Might Think
Any "Game of Thrones" fan who has been to one of the show's castles has proven their devotion, but one who actually owns one, well, they have next-level bragging rights.
That could be the case for someone soon, though: The castle fans know as Riverrun is on the market, and it's cheaper than you might expect. Northern Ireland's Gosford Castle is listed for £500,000, which is approximately $656,000.
In addition to serving as the backdrop for "Game of Thrones" scenes like the Reverse Red Wedding, the castle has its own interesting history. It was built in the mid-1800s by Archibald Acheson, the second Earl of Gosford, and was the home of multiple earls, according to the listing. It was later commandeered during WWII and used as housing for troops and as a prisoner of war camp. The building has also served as a hotel and, more recently, was partially developed, with parts being converted into six luxury apartments.
The castle, of course, isn't inexpensive by any means, so the average fan won't be buying it. If one does, though, we hope they'll enjoy a toast to the rest of us who are enjoying it vicariously through them.
