'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Premiere & Episode 2 Scene Details Revealed
In the "Game of Thrones" Season 7 premiere, Jon Snow will make a speech to a group of several allies, revealing what is now "more valuable than gold."
Details on that scene, and more, were revealed by the Toronto Sun in a report from their visit to the Northern Ireland set this past October. Since it's an official report, it's not technically a spoiler, but the details are still pretty spoilery, so you've been warned.
The Toronto Sun shared details on a Team Jon scene from the premiere, a Team Dany scene from Episode 2, and tidbit about a team of workers sculpting a massive dragon skull.
PREMIERE
The Jon Snow (Kit Harington) scene in question seems like it picks up from the Season 6 finale, where Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey) rallied the banquet hall at Winterfell to declare Jon the King in the North.
This premiere scene apparently features Jon, Lyanna, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), Ser Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham), and Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) discussing the looming threat of the White Walkers. According to the Sun's report, Jon tells the group, "Dragonglass kills White Walkers, and it's now more valuable than gold." He says they need to start mining for dragonglass to craft more weapons.
Dragonglass, Valyrian steel, and dragon fire will all be needed to fight White Walkers.
Arya Stark is not in that scene, we last saw her killing the Freys at the Twins, but fans noticed that she appears to have Littlefinger's Valyrian steel blade in the new EW magazine cover images, suggesting she gets a hold of that small, but important weapon, in fighting "the great war."
EPISODE 2
The Episode 2 scene is set at Daenerys Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) new headquarters at Dragonstone, original seat of House Targaryen, revealing that Dany gets there and sets up shop with her team at least by the second episode.
The Toronto Sun witnessed Team Dany having a "heated discussion" about the best way to take King's Landing from Queen Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey). The debate featured Dany, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan), Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma), Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), and Lady Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg). The Sun shared some further notes from Episode 2 director Mark Mylod to stars Gemma Whelan and Indira Varma, so read the full report for more.
It won't be long before fans get to see these scenes for themselves. Season 7 starts Sunday, July 16 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
