Michel Is Getting a Backstory on the 'Gilmore Girls' Revival
Aside from the big burning questions that fans have ahead of Netflix's upcoming "Gilmore Girls" revival (does Rory end up with one of her exes? Will Luke and Lorelai get married? How will Sookie fit into the equation?), there's one mystery from the original series that's never been addressed before: What is Michel's backstory? Now, the actor behind the cranky concierge has revealed that viewers will soon learn a lot more about the character.
In an interview with Us Weekly, Yanic Truesdale confirmed that there's "much more" intel about Michel in "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life."
"We kind of haven't seen Michel outside of work really," Truesdale told the magazine. "I think very rarely he was outside of the Inn. And we didn't know much about his personal life. So this time is different. We know much more."
Just what that backstory entails, Truesdale won't reveal, though there's a possibility Michel could get a love interest. (To Us Weekly's question on that subject, the actor offered a noncommittal reply: "That I can't answer.") But he did say that that extra insight informs his performance this time around.
"That is nice for me as an actor because it gives me a backstory," Truesdale explained to Us Weekly. "But it gives me meat for the character because he, you know, I definitely have an arc and stuff going on in my personal life that affect the character. So the fans can expect to discover more about Michel."
As with all things "Gilmore"-revival-related, we can't wait.
"Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" debuts on Netflix sometime later this year. (In the meantime, you can binge-watch the entire original series -- wherever you are in the world.)
