'Grey's Anatomy' Season 13 Has Bittersweet News for DeLuca
Poor DeLuca. No good deed goes unpunished, eh?
Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) ended "Grey's Anatomy Season 12 getting the holy heck beat out of him by Alex (Justin Chambers), thanks to a misunderstanding when DeLuca brought home drunk Jo (Camilla Luddington). He was just trying to be a gentleman, and unintentionally got the full truth of Jo's dark abusive past, then got socked by Jo's man when Alex walked in at the wrong time.Well, the good news is that DeLuca is going to live -- and we'll see a lot more of him in Season 13, which premieres September 22. The bad news is that it sounds like DeLuca is now squarely caught up in the Jolex drama, and he wants no part of it.
Here's the scoop Entertainment Weekly just gave an inquiring fan:
Will DeLuca actually die on Grey's Anatomy? — Fells
Alex may have beaten DeLuca within an inch of his life, but DeLuca will survive — and end up with an even bigger storyline in season 13. "We're going to get to know DeLuca a lot better, who we don't know at all, and who we've just started to scratch the surface of," EP Shonda Rhimes tells me. "Now, because this thing has happened to him, he has found himself in a spotlight that he was not interested in ever being in."
Well, at least he's getting a big storyline. It was already revealed that the premiere will pick up right where we left off, and the Alex and Jo drama will have a strong presence in Episode 1, titled "Undo."
Here's the premiere synopsis from ABC:
"When one of Grey Sloan's own lands in the hospital, Bailey tries to figure out what happened while the rest of the doctors jump in to help. Meredith juggles huge secrets that affect her relationships with Alex and Maggie. While Richard helps Jo with a big decision, April and Catherine clash over the new baby, on the season thirteen premiere of 'Grey's Anatomy.'"
Alex may find himself in jail and in the doghouse with Jo, who is not interested in being with another guy who likes to use his fists when he gets mad. Watch the drama play out Thursday, September 22 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
