'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Not Bringing Back Recurring Character: Report
Goodbyes are inevitable at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Another one of the "Grey's Anatomy" doctors has reportedly hung up her white coat. Marika Dominczyk, who had a recurring role as Dr. Eliza Minnick, is not returning for Season 14, according to TVLine. Apparently, the character will not get another chance after being fired by Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) last season.
So far, ABC hasn't confirmed the news and it is unclear why the decision was made. However, Minnick's exit isn't exactly surprising. Bailey can only fire and then re-hire so many people, plus fans weren't exactly crazy about Dominczyk's character. Calzona shippers, in particular, were unhappy to see the surgeon-slash-educational consultant develop a romantic relationship with Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) after she joined the show in Season 13.
The actress was well aware that some "Grey's Anatomy" die-hards were hating on her character. She told TVLine in February that she appreciated Calzona fans' "passion," even if she was getting the negative side of it. At least she probably won't have to deal with that in her next role!
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 premieres Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
