'Grey's Anatomy' Season 14 Premiere Will Address Pair's Split in 'Very Interesting' Way
"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 is going to be lighter and sexier than the past year, with several love triangles, but in at least one case that means a fresh start.
We don't know what's in store for Arizona's love life (Jessica Capshaw) in Season 14, other than for the premiere to address her break-up with Eliza Minnick (Marika Dominczyk). It was already reported that Minnick will not be returning after being fired from Grey Sloan in the Season 13 finale. She could've always stuck around as Arizona's girlfriend, but that's not going to happen.
Instead, Debbie Allen -- who directed the premiere, titled "Break Down the House" -- told TVLine the split between Arizona and Minnick "is going to be addressed" in the two-hour premiere on September 28. "It's very interesting how we address it."
Interesting. Huh. The conversation came up when TVLine asked if there was any chance of Callie returning, now that Arizona is single again. Allen said there were no plans and no discussion at the moment, although they love and miss Sara Ramirez, as we all do.
So now we're not sure what Arizona will be up to outside of the hospital, beyond actress Jessica Capshaw hanging out with Jo actress Camilla Luddington:
A while back, Kevin McKidd tweeted that "Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 premiere would be "fantastic, funny and feels like vintage" "Grey's," but Entertainment Weekly also shared an alarming spoiler that the two-hour opener will end with some shocking news that will make viewers question everything.
We know Teddy Altman is returning, there's a new baby Harriet on set, DeLuca's sister is showing up, Matthew Morrison's bad hubby is returning, Megan Hunt has been recast, there will be love triangles galore, and apparently some kind of premiere night shocker.
The fun begins Thursday, Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
