'Gypsy' Teaser: Naomi Watts Makes Unconvincing Promise to Do No Harm
A promise usually seems reassuring, but in Netflix's new "Gypsy" teaser, that's not the case at all.
The streaming service released the preview Thursday, and it is both intense and suspenseful. Series star Naomi Watts is front and center as a therapist clearly skirting her ethical responsibilities. The teaser interweaves scenes of her swearing an oath to, among other things, do no harm to her patients, with scenes in which she directly violates that promise.
"I will always provide a safe and trusting haven for my patients," she says. "I will remain objective in my relationships. I will not violate the physical boundaries of the patient. And will always do no harm."
In the series, Watts's character, Jean Holloway, is a Manhattan-based therapist who blurs the lines between her personal and professional lives. That leads to all kinds of problems, both for her and the people around her. Are you curious yet?
"Gypsy" premieres June 30 on Netflix.
