After thousands of actors auditioned for the chance to play a young Han Solo in the upcoming "Star Wars" spinoff flick, the production is about to stage another crucial search.

TheWrap reports that the film is now looking to cast a young Lando Calrissian, Solo's smooth-talking BFF-turned-nemesis-tuned-friend again from the original series. Billy Dee Williams played the character in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi," where he made his mark as the mayor of Cloud City, who double-crossed his old pal Solo and turned him over to Darth Vader, but later redeemed himself as a key member of the Rebellion.

According to TheWrap, "the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is 'Chance' — perhaps a reference to the character's appreciation of cards and dice." In "Empire," Lando makes mention of Solo stealing the Millennium Falcon from him, though Solo counters that he won it fair and square. We'd expect some sort of reenactment of that famous wager -- and the acquisition of its iconic prize -- in the spinoff.

The currently untitled Solo project stars Alden Ehrenreich ("Hail, Caesar!"), who takes over for original Solo Harrison Ford, and is directed by "The LEGO Movie" duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It's slated to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
