HBO has at least one fewer "Game of Thrones" offshoot in the works.

Bryan Cogman has told Variety that his project is no longer moving forward. The writer was developing one of the five possible "Game of Thrones" spinoffs -- or "successor shows," as George R.R. Martin calls them -- that HBO had in the works. However, he recently indicated that's no longer the case.

"This is it for me in terms of Westeros," Cogman told Variety.

The writer went out with a bang. He was the lead writer on Season 8, Episode 2, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms," which aired Sunday. The episode was full of both crucial developments and nostalgic, heartbreaking moments. There was also some much-needed levity.

Although Cogman's "Game of Thrones"-inspired show isn't moving forward, we may still see more from the series' universe. HBO gave a pilot order to a prequel series from writer Jane Goldman. It is set to take place thousand of years before the events of "Game of Thrones," and the pilot will star Naomi Watts.

As for now, "Game of Thrones" Season 8 is still airing. New episodes debut Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
