"The Handmaid's Tale" will be back for more dystopian torture in 2018.

Hulu announced the series was picked up for Season 2 just four episodes into its streaming of Season 1. The highly acclaimed drama stars Elisabeth Moss, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, and Joseph Fiennes, and is based on Margaret Atwood's best-selling novel. During its renewal announcement, Hulu revealed that "The Handmaid's Tale" premiere "has been watched by more Hulu viewers than any other series premiere – original or acquired – on the service."

"The response we've seen to 'The Handmaid's Tale' in just one week since its premiere has been absolutely incredible. It has been an honor to work with this talented team of cast and creators to develop a series that has struck such a chord with audiences across the country. As we continue to expand our strong slate of original programming, 'The Handmaid's Tale' is exactly the type of gripping and thought-provoking storytelling we want to bring to viewers. We can't wait to explore the world of Gilead and continue Margaret's vision with another season on Hulu."

The first three episodes of "The Handmaid's Tale" Season 1 were released on April 26, with the fourth episode arriving today (May 3), and a new episode streaming each Wednesday. There are 10 episodes to this season, and Hulu will probably stick with that episode count in Season 2, which will premiere on the streaming service in 2018.
