The actor is set for the gig, as NBC announced Wednesday. He'll host a March 9 "SNL" episode that features musical guest Khalid. The network also revealed that actor John Mulaney will host on March 2, with country singer Thomas Rhett performing.

The sketch comedy series is off for a week after its Feb. 16 episode, which was hosted by MCU star Don Cheadle. Mulaney's episode will be the next new one to air, followed by Elba's the following week. They join the season's star-studded lineup of guest hosts that includes Awkwafina, Steve Carell, Matt Damon, Rachel Brosnahan, and more.
Elba has been keeping busy with film roles. Not only has he starred in films like "The Mountain Between Us" and "Molly's Game," the actor is part of major franchises, including the MCU, the Star Trek film series, and the upcoming Fast and Furious spinoff.
"SNL" Season 44 airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
