Jai Courtney Confirms He's Returning For 'Suicide Squad' Sequel
Captain Boomerang will be back in the new "Suicide Squad" film.
Jai Courtney, who played the unicorn-loving character in the 2016 movie, told Business Insider on Friday that he will part of James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad."
"We're getting ready to shoot in a few months' time," Courtney said. "There's not much else I can reveal about it but, yeah, you'll be seeing Boomerang back for sure."
As for who else is coming back from the David Ayer film?
Due to a scheduling conflict, Will Smith is out as Deadbolt, with Idris Elba poised to take over his role.
Margot Robbie is expected to return as she's already filming the standalone Harley Quinn film "Birds of Prey."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn is planning to focus on DC characters who weren't in the first movie, which would rule out the return of Jared Leto's Joker, Diablo (Jay Hernandez) and Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.)
Several new characters are reportedly being added, including Ratcatcher, King Shark and and Polka-Dot Man. "Guardians of the Galaxy" star Dave Bautista may play a character named Peacemaker, "whose extremist form of pacifism means he would kill for peace."
"I'm happy, it's going to be fun," Courtney said of the sequel. "It will be different, for sure, but it's going to be great."
"The Suicide Squad" has a release date of August 6, 2021.
