James Gandolfini Was Asked to Star in 'Human Centipede 3'
The "Human Centipede" series is coming to a (gross) end this weekend, with the release of "Human Centipede III (Final Sequence)." But according to the horror franchise's mastermind, it could have starred one of the most revered actors of our time.
In an Sopranos" star James Gandolfini.
Yes, you read that right. According to Six, he approached Gandolfini about the part, and even gave the actor a screenplay to read, before the onetime Tony Soprano ultimately passed on the project. Gandolfini died of a heart attack in 2013.
"I had James Gandolfini in mind and Eric Roberts. I was talking to them both," Six explained to EW. "But when James Gandolfini read the script he was a little bit hesitant. Yeah, he backed off, and then he died, of course."
While the mind races when trying to imagine the award-winning Gandolfini in the "Human Centipede" universe, Six apparently doesn't regret his ultimate casting choice in Roberts, telling EW that Roberts "loved the Human Centipede films ... and he wanted to do it immediately." Sounds like a match made in (disgusting) heaven.
"The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence)" premieres in theaters and on VOD on May 22.
