Contractually, "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to be Lawrence's last on-screen appearance as shapeshifter Mystique. Unless a new deal can be worked out, the once and future Katniss will be free from the house that Charles Xavier built.

Which means her dance card will be open, and what better movie to fill it than with Marvel's upcoming "Captain Marvel," set for release July 2018?

Fans (and the internet) have been clamoring for Carol Danvers to get the big screen treatment ever since Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
