A key scene from the latest episode of "Game of Thrones" might support a popular Jon Snow theory.

In Episode 6, "Beyond the Wall," Jon (Kit Harington) seemed to play the hero once again, telling Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) to leave without him when a pack of wights tried to prevent her and the others from escaping the Army of the Dead. However, Redditor No_conspicuity proposed an alternative theory, speculating that Jon turned down the dragon evacuation because he is meant to ride Rhaegal instead.

Since discovering that Jon is a Targaryen (even though he doesn't know it), many fans have been convinced he is destined to fly, and that moment in Episode 6 looked like the perfect opportunity. Yet, as No_conspicuity pointed out, in the book series, riders stick to just one dragon. If that is also true of "Game of Thrones," then Jon couldn't mount Drogon. Referencing that scene, the Redditor suggested that beyond saving the day, there was "something more subtle that Jon may not even perceive" at play.

The user then pulled a quote from Daenerys in "A Dance with Dragons" about the creatures and their riders as evidence:

All I know of dragons is what my brother told me when I was a girl, and some I read in books, but it is said that even Aegon the Conqueror never dared mount Vhagar or Meraxes, nor did his sisters ride Balerion the Black Dread. Dragons live longer than men, some for hundreds of years, so Balerion had other riders after Aegon died ... but no rider ever flew two dragons.

With Jon missing his ride to safety on Drogon, some fans thought Rhaegal would swoop in and bring him home. Alas, it wasn't in the cards. Maybe next time?
