julia-roberts

One of Hollywood's biggest stars of all time, known for the brightest smile in the biz, Julia Roberts is an acting icon.

The "Pretty Woman" was the highest paid actress throughout the '90s and the first half of the 2000s. So, it's no surprise that the actress has become very choosy with her roles. Enter "Secret in Their Eyes"--her latest return to the big screen since 2013's "August: Osage County."

In the new mystery-thriller directed by Billy Ray, Roberts stars opposite Nicole Kidman and Chiwetel Ejiofor as an FBI agent whose life is suddenly torn apart when her daughter is brutally murdered. The film explores the themes of loss, obsession and vengeance.

It was inspired by Ray's love for the 2009 Spanish-language Argentine film "El Secreto de Sus Ojos (the title's English translation is "The Secret in Their Eyes"), which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards.

When I found out I would finally have the opportunity to interview Julia Roberts, I immediately was exhilarated! Having the opportunity to meet and interview someone like her is one of those extremely rare moments that other people in my field rarely get to do.

As the interview drew near, I remembered some of the veteran movie reporters telling me how the male reporters had better experiences interviewing her. Although I have proved to be successful in attaining great interviews from some of the toughest rooms in the past (ahem, Tommy Lee Jones), I was slightly intimidated when the big day came.

I arrived to my interview 40 minutes early. However, when I got there the studio was running early and basically rushed me to my seat, which gave me no time at all to prepare myself. After shaking hands and introducing myself, Julia Roberts said to the man in charge of the room, "You're breaking my rule, Tony."

Because she is an Oscar-winning actress, the fake-serious tone in her voice actually made me think something was wrong! Then, she suddenly snapped her face back at me and said, "My rule is not hott girls in here," and with that beautiful, big, famous flash of a smile she continued, "so I don't know how the heck you got in here."

It was as if a huge weight had suddenly lifted off of my shoulders; I realized that there was nothing to be worried about anymore after she made it clear that she was joking.

For the remainder of our interview she was very pleasant, generous and thoughtful. Like other mega Hollywood actors I've recently interviewed (George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio) she proved to be the ultimate professional and as a result, I came out of that room loving her even more than I did when I walked inside. I didn't think that was even possible!

As if there isn't already so much you can say about this woman, as you will see in the video below, in person, she is stunning! So I think we can all agree, Julia Roberts is the prettiest woman.
