Kim Raver to Return Full-Time for 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 15
WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS about the season 14 finale of "Grey's Anatomy.
After returning to the show for its season 14 finale, a former "Grey's Anatomy" doc is set to reprise her role full-time next season.
Kim Raver, who plays Dr. Teddy Altman on the long-running medical drama, will once again join the cast as a regular when season 15 premieres in the fall. Raver had previously starred on the show beginning in season six, exiting at the end of season eight when her character relocated to an Army hospital Germany.
She briefly popped back up during a bottle episode earlier this season, when Owen (Kevin McKidd) paid her a visit. The actress returned once more during last week's finale episode, where Teddy was appointed interim chief, and also revealed that she was pregnant -- likely with Owen's child.
Raver released a statement about her permanent return, saying she was excited to rejoin the "Grey's" fold:
"I am thrilled to reprise the role of Dr. Teddy Altman as a regular. Returning to Shondaland with the incredibly talented [showrunner] Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo and the amazing cast is heavenly. I have a special place in my heart for Teddy and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to continue her story."
Raver's return comes as two other longtime cast members said goodbye to the show: Both Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew departed the series in the season 14 finale. No word yet on when season 15 is set to start, but it -- and Raver -- will be back on ABC sometime this fall.
