It seems that some people can suspend their beliefs that four humans can travel to an alternate universe and arrive on Earth with incredible super powers in "Fantastic Four."

But when it comes to a black man, Michael B. Jordan, having a white sister in Kate Mara, it's a plot line that's much harder to fathom.

In a cringeworthy interview between "Fantastic Four" castmates Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch), Mara (Sue Storm, Invisible Woman), who are siblings in the comic franchise, Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm, The Thing) and Atlanta's Rock 100.5 Morning show's Steven J. Rickman, the radio host pried for the actors to explain their color differences.

“From what I’ve seen you’re brother and sister,” Rickman asks Jordan and Mara. “Am I missing something? … But you’re white and you’re black. How does that happen?”

Jordan, who takes on the role last played by Chris Evans in 2007, gives the interviewer a simple explanation.

"They could be raised as brother and sister," he responds. "There’s a whole bunch of family dynamics that could be without the 'obvious adoption.'"

Johnny Storm is a character who has been identified as white since his appearance in the 1961 comic book. Sue Storm has been portrayed as his sister.

Rickman continues his tactless questioning by telling Mara he mourns the loss of her long, "beautiful" tresses.

“You’re way, way hot,” he tells the 32-year-old actress. “Why’d you cut the hair? Your hair was beautiful.”

“This is a great interview,” Mara responds, adding that she had a makeover for another role. “They asked me to. I’m an actress. I have to be a chameleon.” Things cross the line when the interviewer begins to compliment her toes, which then prompts a handler to dismiss the hosts.

The junket follows a painfully awkward live interview between Cara Delevingne and Good Day Sacramento as the actress promoted "Paper Towns" and they accused her of being too tired.

Mara, Bell and Jordan join co-star Miles Teller in "Fantastic Four," which finds the young actors playing a group of space travelers who acquire incredible super powers after they are exposed to radiation during a trip to an alternate universe.

The film hits theater Friday. Watch the trailer below.
