Mindy Kaling Shares Her 'Ocean's 8' Character's Skill: 'I'm Not Making It Sound Great'
Being a part of the star-studded "Ocean's 8" cast is a big deal, but Mindy Kaling still had one more wish: for her character to contribute meaningfully to the movie's fictional heist.
The comedian is out promoting the female-led Ocean's trilogy spinoff, and she appeared as a guest on the June 4 episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." While chatting with host Ellen DeGeneres, she opened up how all the characters have special skills and she feared her character would only be bitten by a dog or fall down stairs as a distraction. Fortunately, that wasn't the case; she revealed that her character, Amita, contributes by being "good at jewelry."
DeGeneres understandably was a little confused by that answer, leading Kaling to clarify that her character is a jeweler.
"I see," DeGeneres responded. That comes in handy when you're doing a heist?"
"I'm not making it sound great," Kaling said, laughing at DeGeneres's question, "but it was helpful. I promise it's helpful."
Beyond shedding light on Kaling's character, the interview also covered a variety of other topics. The actress talked about her pregnancy, motherhood, and even how she got her daughter to stop fussing during a visit to Oprah's house. Watch below.
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" airs weekdays, and "Ocean's 8" is due to hit theaters June 8.
