Missy Elliott Booked for Guest Role on 'Star'
Missy Elliott is ready to work it.
The Grammy-winning rapper and record producer is taking on a guest role in Fox's new Lee Daniel series "Star," Deadline reports. The show centers on three young singers trying to find their way to stardom. It's familiar territory for Elliott, especially considering that her character, Pumpkin, is both a producer and recording artist.
It sounds like Elliott's character may stir the pot. Pumpkin is described as "dangerous" and apparently is a blast from the past for Carlotta (Queen Latifah). She'll be around for at least an episode, popping up to surprise Star (Jude Demorest) and the other girls at a performance, thanks to Star's boyfriend.
This won't be Elliott's first TV guest role. Not only has she previously appeared on "The Voice," "Family Matters," and had a cameo in "Honey." She'll be just one familiar face stopping by "Star" this season; radio host Rickey Smiley is also slated to appear in another episode. Clearly, they're keeping things interesting.
"Star" airs on Fox on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
