ABC's "Modern Family" will be sticking together for one more year. The long-running sitcom, currently airing its 10th season, has been renewed for an 11th -- and final -- outing.

The network revealed the news on Tuesday, during its presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke praised "Modern Family" as "one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history," and promised, "In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss."

In a pair of statements, co-creators Christopher Lloyd and Steve Levitan celebrated the show's long life -- and added in some signature quips for good measure.

"For 10 years, our characters have bravely faced turning points in life and moved through them to great personal enrichment; we have chosen a different path by doing one more season of Modern Family," Lloyd said.

Added Levitan: "Even after 10 years together, we realized there are still some things our writers don’t yet know about each other’s sex lives."

The show was presumed to be coming to an end after this 10th season, which has featured some pretty significant story arcs. Claire (Julie Bowen) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) dealt with the death of their mother, DeDe (Shelley Long), while Haley (Sarah Hyland) is going through a surprise pregnancy -- with twins, no less.

While Lloyd had said last fall that the show's future was uncertain, and an 11th season was not guaranteed, he was hopeful that producers and the studio could work out a deal. Now, that has become a reality.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it's not known yet how many episodes will air in season 11, though it will likely contain fewer installments than previous seasons. Stay tuned.
