'Narcos: Mexico' Renewed for Season 2 by Netflix
The "Narcos: Mexico" story is just beginning. Netflix has renewed the crime drama spinoff for a second season. But some major changes are in store for the cast.
[Spoilers ahead for Season 1]
The end of the first season saw the murder of Michael Peña‘s undercover DEA agent Kiki Camarena. Season 2 will bring in Scoot McNairy's Agent Walt, the show's mysterious narrator. He'll likely oversee Operation Leyenda, a large-scale response to Camarena's death that evolves the DEA's tactics in the never-ending drug war.
It's unclear if Diego Luna will return as Félix Gallardo, the infamous leader of the Guadalajara Cartel. He is set to star in a "Star Wars" series centered on his "Rogue One" character, Cassian Andor, that will stream on Disney+. He may make appearances, however, in Season 2.
If he doesn't return in a starring capacity, it's possible that the story will focus on the rise of Alejandro Edda's El Chapo, who becomes a notorious drug lord.
