New 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Teaser Shows John Boyega in Lightsaber Fight

If John Boyega needed awakening, a duel might just might do that.

The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor, starring as Finn, is seen wielding a lightsaber and appears to be moments away from a showdown with Adam Driver’s evil Jedi Kylo Ren in the latest teaser released on the film's Instagram page Thursday, leaving a cryptic caption: "There has been an awakening... #StarWars #TheForceAwakens."

It appears to add more drama to the trailer that was released earlier in the month on the Star Wars South Korea YouTube channel, showing a patchwork of new and old material. Some of the footage had been repurposed from last November’s trailer release, but the new cut included an impressive scene of the Imperial Army. A short voiceover set up the teaser that featured a new cast of heroes in John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac, and of course, many masked evildoers.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” directed by J.J. Abrams, hits theaters Dec. 18.
