Pop TV Saves 'One Day at a Time' With Season 4 Pickup
There's no keeping "One Day at a Time" down.
Three months after being canceled by Netflix, the comedy series has found a new home at Pop TV. The network announced Thursday that it is bringing "ODAAT" back for a fourth season. Pop ordered 13 episodes, and the new season will premiere in 2020.
The show will continue to follow Penelope Alvarez (Justina Machado) and her family and friends as they deal with life's ups and downs. We'll again see Machado alongside Rita Moreno, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz, and Stephen Tobolowsky. Pop TV President Brad Schwartz said in a statement they'll "continue telling heartwarming stories of love, inclusion, acceptance and diversity that pull on your emotions while putting a smile on your face."
While the comedy's fan base wasn't big enough to convince Netflix to renew the show, it is an extremely loyal one. Schwartz described "One Day at a Time" as one of the "most critically praised and fan-adored comedies in all of television." The network also recognized fans when its social media accounts shared news of the new season, writing, "You asked for it, we got it!"

The show previously looked like it might end up on CBS All Access, as the streamer reportedly submitted a bid. However, Netflix's deal with Sony, the production company behind "ODAAT," gave it the ability to veto moves to rival streamers during a two-year window. Ultimately, CBS Corporation was able to land it for Pop instead.
The ups and downs have been emotional for fans. Needless to say, they're celebrating now on Twitter:
